MFRC Board Meet in Broome

MFRC recently held an important research partnerships and strategic directions forum in Broome.

The Martuwarra Fitzroy River Council Board met for two days in early May to hear updates from their current research partners and other researchers, including affiliated PhD students, collaborating to develop further an expanding evidence base to support the aims and outcomes of the council. There are several exciting collaborations already in place and with more to come as the MFRC builds it reputation for high-quality collaborative research partnerships.

The board was able to reflect on current and upcoming challenges regarding the protection of Martuwarra country and the communities the river provides for. There was a great deal of dynamic, enthusiastic and positive discussion as a result.

This meeting was also the first chance board members had to meet the new acting CEO and to discuss how this position will support the growth and capacity of the MFRC. All board members agreed that this forum was a great start to 2024 and are looking forward to meeting again in July.
