NIAA Funding secured for 3 years

Martuwarra Fitzroy River Council has secured funding from the National Indigenous Australians Agency that will provide an opportunity for the council to increase it's capacity to protect and care for country and community. 

In February 2024 Martuwarra Fitzroy River Council was successful in securing significant funding via the NIAA. MFRC will deliver the "Martuwarra Fitzroy River Keepers Research Project". This is a three-year research project to create sustainable lifeways from Indigenous knowledge to ensure climate adaptation, resilience, and resourcefulness.  The project will study the effects of climate change on the Fitzroy River and deliver a co-designed program of participatory action research on mapping and collecting stories combined with ecology zone management to create an evidence base of local knowledge and assets for new economies.
